Predominantly when you hear or think of hip-hop the locations that comes to mind are New-York & Los-angels, East coast Vs West coast. While the both of them have been able to simultaneous conquer an era with there own unique sound and produced amazing hip-hop legends and talented underground artists there’s a new city putting its town, coast and music on the map ATLANTA.
With big names like Gucci mane, T.I, young JEEZY, Ludacris and OUTKAS Atlanta has been working on taking over the music scene for over 10 years now, with successfully producing at least 2 major artists and producers every year since the early 2000’s leading to a repetitive sound in the rap industry today. This type of rap was frowned upon by rap gatekeepers and deemed as “mumble rap” however visionary and pioneers like rap group MIGOS change the status quo.
There is a big debate as to who is the inventor of trap music and who first dropped the first trap album its definitely between T.I and young JEEZY but if anything the world is sure of it’s the fact that trap music started in the south and Atlanta has been carrying the mantle. Trap music is a mix of 808, string & bass instrument, D.A workstation, percussion & woodwind instrument and even after having these tools you would need a good vocal rapper like QUAVO or 2 CHAINZ and a good producer like a ZAYTOVEN, Lex luger, 808 mafias to come together and make the magic happen.
The new sound of hip-hop is trap music with the success of hit producers like metro BOOMIN, ZAYTOVEN, Lex luger, SOUTHSIDE, 808 mafias, sonny digital, mike-will-made-it, TM88 etc. these are the unsung heroes of trap music as they have consistently dropped hits and pushed the Atlanta sound.
Lets not forget Atlanta has also produced some big name rappers over the year’s future, 2 CHAINZ, young thug, WAKA FLOCKA, Gucci mane, MIGOS etc.
There’s no way we give credit to all these people and forget the legendary mike dean mans a flipping legend along with Travis scott.
What makes this mixture unique is the fact they have each individually been able to take this sound outside their city and across the world while been able to collective work together the same or different projects hereby perfecting and pushing the sound hence the millennial rocking heavy with this new sound and crowing ATLANTA the city of HIP-HOP.
